About the RGSPA
The primary objective of the PA is to build and support the RGS community. This is achieved by organising events such as the Quiz Night, the 1st Form Dinner, the 3rd Form Dinner and the Christmas Dinner Dance. Some of these are purely to facilitate social interaction but the main events are to raise funds to provide direct financial support to boys, clubs and societies under the management and guidance of the Sponsorship and Grants Committee.
We work hard to promote the Sponsorship to boys and the value of awards varies between £1,300 in 04/05 to £3,725 in 07/08. We were also very pleased to spend £5,435 on various things around the school such as a large flat screen for the Art Department to display new media artworks, more fencing equipment and furniture and artworks for the 6th Form Centre.
The Christmas Dinner and Dance remains our most important fund raising activity raising nearly 65% of our total contribution to funds in 07/08.
The PA Treasurer is one of the Committee Officers and the accounts are independently examined annually and presented at the AGM. The 07/08 accounts are available here.
We also raise funds to provide grants for additional school equipment and partial sponsorship for pupils undertaking educational or personal development projects.
The core committee is made up of the Officers listed on the Contacts Page plus the Parent Governor. In addition, the school is represented by the Headmaster, the Second Master, two other representatives of the School Staff and the School Captain.
The Constitution allows for between six and twenty parents and up to four other persons who may be co-opted from time to time.
We normally meet on the first Monday of each term and half-term at 20:00 at the school.
